For several decades, UGS on the borders between Slovakia, Czechia, Austria and Hungary remained without the attention of commercial extraction, because the composition of natural gas was not very attractive.

The development of new technologies led to the commercial use of additional UGS. Thanks to considerable size, underground storage are becoming a strategic device for a number of important activities, such as gas storage, emission-free production of hydrogen or graphene.

The geological structure has been researched for long time - seismic measurements, mathematical gas storage modeling and other geological surveys.

UGS Cífer is located 13 km away from the Brotherhood and Eustream pipeline. Besides the access to Eustream/Brotherhood transit pipeline with ca. 100 bcm annual capacity, the project can also access to the SPP distribution system with over 3 bcm annual capacity.
